Anticipating ArtJamz: The Lincoln Sessions

Anticipating ArtJamz: The Lincoln Sessions

Tomorrow evening, I'm hitting one of the hottest new night-out scenes in D.C.

Meet ArtJamz: an uncommonly creative concept by Michael M. Clements, Executive Editor of Washington Life Magazine. Last June, Clements launched ArtJamz, the first for-profit production of Genki Media LLC. Genki is a combination of the Japanese characters "Gen" and "Ki," and it means "happy and healthy condition." Well . . . by all accounts, it seems that Clements—through his wildly popular ArtJamz series—is indeed making meaningful strides toward the happy and healthy condition of Washingtonians.

"Give Me Your Hand" at the Corcoran

"Give Me Your Hand" at the Corcoran

Sunday, February 13 at 4 p.m.

Co-sponsored with the US-Ireland Alliance

Two of Ireland’s most eminent actors, Dearbhla Molloy and Dermot Crowley, take to the Corcoran’s stage to perform Give Me Your Hand, based on a collection of poems by celebrated Irish poet Paul Durcan. An original and exciting look at some of the world’s most famous paintings, Molloy and Crowley freshly interpret and give voice to masterpieces by Van Gogh, Rubens, Gainsborough, and others in the collection of the National Gallery in London. Witty, touching, acerbic, and insightful, the performance brings the audience on a journey through the National Gallery and the unique prism of Durcan’s imagination.

Staying on Top: Allure Magazine's D.C. Spa Pick Kavenchy 1st Annual Runway Show

Staying on Top: Allure Magazine's D.C. Spa Pick Kavenchy 1st Annual Runway Show

Allure magazine's top DC salon, Kavenchy, hosted it's first Annual Spring Look Runway Show Monday night.   Guests began arriving at 7PM for the invitation only event sponsored by Phytos and Dermalogica.   The theme for the show was spring and no detail was spared to transport guests from the outside cold into a spring garden.  The "red carpet" was thrown out and replaced instead with green plant wire meshing like the kind you would find at the garden store. The runway was lined with gerber daisies, some orchids and bamboo. The night consisted of two runway shows, one to showcase cut and color and the other featured styling.  Kavenchy tapped PEKvida a newly formed boutique public relations firm, founded by PR veterans Pergrin, Elly Sharriat and Khaleelah Po Rome to create his signature event.
