Georgetown student Daniel Milzman sentenced for ricin in dorm


WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A Georgetown University student who had ricin in his dorm room was sentenced Monday morning in federal court.

Daniel Harry Milzman, 20, of Bethesda, Md., was sentenced to one year and one day with three years of supervision after his release. He will receive credit for time served.

Judge Ketanji Jackson ordered that Milzman complete 400 hours of community service during the three years of supervision, to be focused on tutoring underprivileged students in math and physics, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. She also required him to participate in a mental health program.

Georgetown rabbi victim hotline set up


WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A hotline has been set up for anyone who believes they may have been a victim of the Georgetown rabbi, who police say secretly recorded women.

Bernard Freundel has been charged with voyeurism. According to court documents, he recorded women in the showers at Kesher Israel, an Orthodox synagogue in Georgetown.

A phone line and e-mail address for anyone who may have been a victim has been set up by the US Attorney's Office.

Georgetown Rabbi accused of putting camera in showers released


WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A prominent Georgetown rabbi arrested for voyeurism was released on his own recognizance.

A judge released Dr. Barry Freundel, 62, telling him to stay away from his synagogue and his alleged victims at his arraignment Wednesday. He is due in court again on November 12, 2014.

Georgetown rabbi arrested for camera in women's showers


WASHINGTON (WUSA9) -- A prominent Georgetown rabbi was arrested Tuesday for voyeurism, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.

Dr. Barry Freundel, 62, is accused of setting up a camera in the women's showers at Kesher Israel, an Orthodox synagogue in Georgetown, according to police.

A 35-year-old women reported the incident. According to police reports, when the woman confronted Dr. Freundel, he told her he was fixing the shower ventilation system.

Tuesday night prayer service at Kesher Israel Congregation was a struggle for some in light of the news that their spiritiual leader was facing the voyeurism charges.

"It's very disturbing obviously. I don't know all the particulars but to hear that from a rabbi that people trust is very disturbing and concerning," said Michael Uhr, who was attending services at the Georgetown synagogue Tuesday.

Dad of missing Md. Hoggle kids still searching


GERMANTOWN, Md. (WUSA9) -- Almost two weeks since two Maryland children went missing, volunteers and police are continuing to search for three-year-old Sarah Hoggle and two-year-old Jacob Hoggle.

Police have been focusing their search in the Germantown area and have searched more than 14,000 acres so far.

The children's mother, Catherine Hoggle, has been charged in their disappearance. Police are building a homicide case against Hoggle. They said they do not expect to find the children alive.

"If you find what we believe you will, we ask that you back away immediately. Do not touch anything," Montgomery County Police Captain Darren Francke said.

Father Troy Turner said he hasn't given up hope.
