The Washington Humane Society (WHS) works hard to find homes for every animal in our care. As the open-access shelter in DC, we take in an average of 30 animals every day into our often already full and busy adoption centers. One of the most vital services our volunteers can provide is foster care to animals awaiting their forever homes. By providing a place for cats or dogs to stay, along with a little TLC, foster caregivers fulfill a critical component of our life-saving work, and allow us to make room for more animals who need our special care and attention.
