Occasionally Cake of Old Town Alexandria, Va. is hosting a special back to school event on Fri., Sept. 14 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. handing out a free cake truffle per person to all their patrons with no purchase necessary and is selling apple-shaped cookies with all cookie proceeds to be donated to the Dunbar Alexandria-Olympic Branch of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington. Back-to-School apple-shaped cookies are $3.50 a piece, with all sales to be donated to the Boys and Girls Club of Alexandria. Occasionally Cake will also feature school cafeteria-themed cupcakes to include: Peanut Butter and Jelly, Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Candied Bacon, Cornbread with Honey Icing, Watermelon, Lemonade Cupcake and Hot Fudge Sundae Cupcake. Cafeteria-themed cupcakes range in price from $2.75 to $3.25 a piece.

“Parents and students are in full gear with back to school plans, and we wanted help give back to a very important after school program, the Boys and Girls Club with our special back to school cookies and free cake truffles,” said Sabrina Campbell, owner of Occasionally Cake of Alexandria, Va.

Both Alexandria cake boutiques offer more than 100 cake and gourmet cupcake flavors. Occasionally Cake is also renowned for their cake truffles. Instead of discarding leftover cake, it became the centerpiece of their cake truffles, and then dipped in Belgian chocolate.

Occasionally Cake opened its first cake shop in 2009 at 8859 Richmond Highway in Alexandria, Va. and expanded to Old Town Alexandria at 207 King Street in 2012. The designer cake boutique specializes in custom cupcakes and specialty cakes. The King Street location features baking and cake-designing classes for all ages, hosts special events and parties, and offers a quaint bakery boutique with seating.
